2. Use your ear pods with noise cancellation

We have all experienced the long nights of a noisy hotel or a snoring travel mate. Some of us have problems sleeping in places where the noises are different from home. And the noises of the jungle in Manuel Antonio can be overwhelming if you are not used to them.

Using your turned-off ear pods is a practical way of turning them into an efficient sort of earplugs.  You can start using them even before you travel so you get used to them.

They not only allow you to sleep uninterrupted, but they also send a message to your chatty neighbor that you are not in the mood.

3. Mix your bags

If you’re traveling with your husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, or best friend, mix the contents of the bags. Day and evening wear, underclothing, and footwear for each of you are in both bags, so you have something to wear if one of the bags is lost.

4. Let someone know if you go hiking by yourself.

When you hike in the rainforest let someone (A friend or relatives at home) know which trail are you taking. If something happens to you it’ll be much easier to find you.

5. Use bubble wrap (small bubbles) for any breakable items

Every now and then we find a beautiful and extremely delicate to handle souvenir. From crystal-made Christmas bubbles to a clay figure you made with indigenous somewhere, you don’t want these to break. Carrying some bubble wrap with you will solve all of this in a moment.

6. Bring old clothes

On one side, you will be hiking and adventuring and you don’t want to do this in your brand new jeans. On the other side, this will allow you space for new clothes and souvenirs as you travel around Costa Rica.

7. A word on perfume or cologne

Bringing perfume to the rainforest is not a good idea. As you may attract wasps and bees (Literally, perfume are substances made by plants to attract pollinators.

However, if you want to have some around and you don’t want to bring a glass bottle in the luggage. Spray or put some in cotton and keep some of this cotton in a ziplock bag. You can take them out and use them for a romantic dinner or a party by the beach.

8. Bring several shower caps for your hiking shoes

Roll your clothes and put them in sealed plastic bags. Especially if you are coming to Costa Rica during the rainy season and if you are taking a tour around several destinations. Drivers usually put the luggage on the roof of the vehicles and even if they don’t if the luggage stays out for whatever reasons,

9. Rolling your clothes saves space in your suitcase and keeps them from getting wrinkled.

10. Back everything up:

In case of an emergency, keep both digital and physical copies of your passport, visas, driver’s license, birth certificate, health insurance card, serial numbers, and important phone numbers on hand. Back up your files and photos on a drive.

11. Bring some extra plastic bags with you.

For instance, traveling in the rainy season with the luggage on the roof of a car or microbus may result in dirty clothes piling up.
