There are several reasons why visiting Costa Rica in the rainy season can be a fantastic idea:

- It is also advisable to stay close to the international airport in case of road blockages due to landslides.
- Pre-booking activities is not necessary, as you can wait and see how the weather is.
- Mosquitoes are more prevalent during the wet season, so bringing bug repellent is essential. Waterproof apparel, a rain jacket, and sunscreen are also essential if you want to remain comfortable during tours.
- Bringing a portable charger, a rechargeable headlight or flashlight, waterproof hiking boots, and extra socks is essential for a comfortable trip.
- Ask locals before going to a waterfall or to a river. It may not be raining where you are, but it may have rained a lot in the mountains, and violent flash floods are usual events in the rivers of Costa Rica.
If renting a car during the rainy season in Costa Rica:
- Go for a four wheel drive. Safer, easier, and opens up off-beaten track roads.
- It is advisable to rent a GPS or use navigation apps to navigate through the rain.
