The Quepos Seawall in Costa Rica was built in the 80’s; this breakwater on the Pacific Ocean remains in the memory of many natives of the town of Quepos and its surroundings as a place of social events, meetings, and many memories built by unique moments.
This spot was the most popular beach in the town of Quepos for an extended period; even after the seawall was built, the place was ideal for swimming, playing soccer, and other beach activities at low tide.
The Quepos Seawall “Malecón de Quepos” offers a 650-meter esplanade along the Pacific Ocean coastline near the town; this paved strip has a great view of the ocean and the Pez Vela Marina.
It is no surprise that this was a relevant point, as it is the closest coast to the town and currently retains that importance, thanks to the Quepos breakwater, which is traversed daily to access the Pez Vela Marina, the shipyard, Nahomi Park, or Casa de la Musica.
Being nearly 50 years old, this place gathers countless stories that are part of the memories of many people in the Quepos community and the Puntarenas province in Costa Rica.
The site is very popular for pet walks and also has a playground for younger children. In addition to being an ideal place for walks, biking, or skateboarding, and watching spectacular sunsets.
The Quepos Skate Park
The Quepos skate park was built on the Malecon in 2018 by the Quepos Municipality during the administration of Mayor Patricia Bolaños. The skate park serves as a significant asset for the community’s youth, providing them with a cost-free and ample area to engage in skateboarding, situated in a prime location near the Pez Vela Marina, at the southern tip of the Quepos Seawall.
The park has ramps, rails, and other surfaces ideal for skating. Besides being next to the sea, the Quepos skate park has a nearby parking area.
