Costa Rica ranks 4th in World Happiness Report 2026
Costa Rica has reached an extraordinary milestone by securing the 4th spot in the World Happiness Report 2026, marking its highest-ever position in the global ranking. This achievement not only highlights Costa Rica’s unique approach to well-being but also crowns it as the happiest nation in Latin America. The country now stands among global leaders in happiness, trailing only Finland, Iceland, and Denmark, with Sweden rounding out the top five. A Remarkable Climb to the Top 5 Back in 2023, Costa Rica ranked 23rd in the World Happiness Report. Fast forward to 2026, and the nation has climbed an astounding 19 places, achieving an average life evaluation score of 7.439. This score is a reflection of how Costa Ricans perceive their lives based on factors such as social support, life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and low corruption levels.
