Both are among Costa Rica's best national parks, but they suit different trips. Manuel Antonio is compact, easy to reach, and mixes rainforest with beaches — ideal if you have limited time or are traveling with family. Corcovado is remote, wild, and one of the most biodiverse places on Earth — the choice for serious wildlife and adventure.
Manuel Antonio: easy, beautiful, and family-friendly
The trails are short, shaded, and well maintained, and they end at white-sand beaches inside the park. Even on a relaxed morning you can spot sloths, white-faced monkeys, and iguanas.
A guided walk in Manuel Antonio National Park is the easiest way to see wildlife you would otherwise miss, and it works well for kids and mixed fitness levels.
Corcovado: Costa Rica's wildest rainforest
On the remote Osa Peninsula, Corcovado offers a much higher chance of rare wildlife — tapirs, scarlet macaws, and, if you are lucky, big cats. It is harder to reach and more demanding, which is exactly why it feels untouched.
From Manuel Antonio it is a full-day Corcovado expedition by boat and on foot, best booked in advance.
Which should you choose?
- Choose Manuel Antonio if you have limited time, are traveling with family, or want to combine wildlife with the beach.
- Choose Corcovado if wildlife is your priority and you are up for a longer, more adventurous day.
